Feeling Frustrated With Your Progress? Nothing Has Gone Wrong
Have you ever looked at your life and thought…
“I’m trying. I’m doing the work. Why does it still feel so hard?”
Maybe you’ve set goals, prayed for guidance, journaled, tried to think more positively…
…and yet frustration keeps showing up.
If that sounds familiar, I want you to take a deep breath with me and hear this clearly:
Nothing is wrong with you.
Frustration isn’t a sign that you’re failing.
It’s proof that you’re growing. 🌱✨
Let’s talk about why.
Frustration Isn’t Failure — It’s Feedback
Scripture teaches:
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
(Proverbs 29:18)
When we don’t know what we’re working toward, life feels blurry, confusing, and stagnant.
Not because we’re broken.
But because we’re drifting.
Having a vision—a picture of the life you want—gives direction and meaning to your choices.
But vision alone isn’t enough.
If you have a clear dream but no structure, you’ll feel frustrated.
Not because something is wrong…
…but because something is missing.
Vision + Structure = Peace (Even Before Results)
There are laws of creation—predictable steps that lead to predictable results.
Think about it:
• Saving money has laws: earn, spend wisely, plan, decide
• Learning a skill has laws: practice, repetition, patience
• Physical health has laws: movement, nourishment, rest
• Spiritual growth has laws: prayer, trust, scripture, action
None of these outcomes happen randomly.
They are created through a process.
And that process isn’t supposed to feel effortless.
It’s supposed to stretch you. 💪
Because growth means becoming someone new.
And becoming someone new requires doing things you’ve never done.
Your Brain Isn’t the Enemy — It’s Just Confused
Here’s something your brain doesn’t want you to know:
Growth feels uncomfortable by design.
Why?
Because your natural human brain has three main jobs:
Seek pleasure
Avoid pain
Conserve energy
Those three instincts push you toward:
What’s familiar
What’s easy
What feels safe
But the life you want?
It requires stepping outside what’s familiar, easy, and safe.
So yes…your brain will throw a fit.
It will whisper:
“This is too hard.”
“Just do it later.”
“You should already be better at this.”
But discomfort doesn’t mean stop.
It means you’re right where you need to be.
Commitment > Perfection
Real growth comes from making a decision and re-deciding every day:
“I am willing to keep going.”
Not perfectly.
Not without emotion.
Not without messy days.
Just…committed.
This is where true self-confidence is built:
I am willing to feel any feeling.
Even disappointment.
Even uncertainty.
Even frustration.
I trust myself to do what I say I will do.
Even imperfectly.
Even slowly.
I choose to have a good opinion of myself.
Even when progress is quieter than I expected.
You don’t build the life you want through pressure.
You build it through partnership with yourself. 🤝
Look How Far You’ve Come
Take a moment and think about the decisions you’ve been making lately:
• You’re paying attention to your thoughts
• You’re noticing feelings instead of numbing them
• You’re separating facts from assumptions
• You’re choosing with more intention
• You’re showing up—again and again
Those are skills.
Those are tools.
Those are investments in your future self.
That is what becoming looks like.
Messy.
Emotional.
Brave.
Holy.
Human.
Divine.
All at once. 🌟
Your Future Isn’t Determined by Your Past
You may have heard the phrase:
“The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.”
That may be true…if you never choose differently.
But the moment you decide with intention:
Who you want to become
What you believe about yourself
How you choose to show up today
…the past stops being the predictor.
And choice becomes the predictor.
Your future is shaped by the thoughts you practice, the emotions you allow, and the daily steps you’re committed to taking.
Not perfectly.
But on purpose.
Frustration Means You’re Becoming
So the next time frustration shows up, remind yourself:
This is growth.
This is alignment.
This is evidence that I care about my life.
This is who I’m becoming.
Breathe.
Keep choosing.
Keep practicing.
There is nothing wrong with you.
You are on the right path. 💛
